Fibromyalgia

What is fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease that manifests itself as prolonged and widespread pain and tenderness in the body. It also presents with sleep disturbances, fatigue and cognitive disorders such as memory and concentration problems. Fibromyalgia can significantly affect quality of life and it is important to know about the different treatment options available. Treatment with drugs is what is traditionally used in fibromyalgia. More recently, however, it has been found that manual therapies of various kinds can effectively relieve symptoms.

Performing some type of physical activity is a very effective way to reduce pain and improve mobility in people with fibromyalgia. Physical activity strengthens muscles, increases circulation in the body and improves posture. Being physically active during the day can also reduce stress levels and improve sleep.

Symptoms of fibromyalgia?

Diagnosing fibromyalgia can be difficult, and it has been thought that no values can be measured through laboratory tests or other medical examination methods. In recent years, however, it has been possible to identify an increased level of inflammation in people with fibromyalgia. This includes examining blood plasma and cerebrospinal fluid. Today, certain diagnostic criteria are used to identify the disease, such as pain in at least 11 of 18 specific points on the body. The fact that fibromyalgia can cause several symptoms common to other diseases also makes diagnosis difficult.

To relieve the symptoms of fibromyalgia, there are several options. Most commonly, painkillers, muscle relaxants and sleeping pills are used. Non-pharmacological treatments such as physical activity, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness are also used. Some people may also find relief from manual therapy, such as acupuncture and massage.

Treatment of Fibromyalgia

Fascia treatment at the Fascia Clinics is an effective way to relieve the symptoms of fibromyalgia. It examines the stresses, both physical and mental, to which the body has been exposed and how it has adapted. An uneven posture causes several of the body’s functions to deteriorate and will affect how we feel. If there is a primary imbalance in our body, it can spread to our muscles, tendons and ligaments, making them more prone to strain. Fascia treatment removes imbalances in the body so the load is more even. The gentle vibration of the machine removes tightness in the fascia and speeds up its flow, reducing pain and swelling. Increased flow in the fascia also improves the function of cells so that substances are more easily absorbed and released. This improves the body’s own healing process. The treatment is soothing to the nervous system and is often perceived as pleasant.

What can I do myself for Fibromyalgia

It is important to be able to manage symptoms and improve quality of life in fibromyalgia. To achieve this, a healthier lifestyle needs to be adopted. Regular physical activity can also be very effective in reducing pain and increasing energy levels.

There are many things you can do to help manage the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Reviewing your diet and removing foods that can increase inflammation in your body is one of them. Sugar is one example.

Relaxation exercises, yoga and meditation can also be very effective in reducing stress and improving sleep.

It is important to remember that fibromyalgia is a chronic disease and that there is no simple solution. In summary, there are many different treatment options available for people suffering from fibromyalgia. It is important to look at your life and consider what might be the best options for managing your symptoms and improving your quality of life.
